A Midlands charity that is looking to commemorate its 40th
anniversary this year by developing new campaigns and expanding its
services to help promote oral health has appointed chartered
account Clement Keys to help it meet its regulatory
responsibilities.
Clement Keys specialises in the not-for-profit sector and will
conduct the British Dental Health Foundation's annual audit and
ensure it complies with the statutory requirements laid down by the
Charity Commission and the Charities SORP.
The not-for-profit sector is proving to be a significant growth
area for Clement Keys, which provides clients with accounting,
auditing and business advice and is currently working with the
Scouts, the Association of Schools and College Leaders and
organisations working in the fields of film-making and the arts, as
well as schools that are converting to Academy status.
Joe Bates, a partner within the specialist charities and pension
division at Clement Keys, said: "Sadly in the UK, someone will die
from mouth cancer every five hours, yet early detection and
treatment can dramatically improve survival rates to over 90%.
We're delighted to be working with a highly successful,
well-established organisation that plays such a pivotal role in
educating us all about the benefits to our general health of taking
good care of our teeth."
When it was established in 1971 the British Dental Health
Foundation's aim was to promote preventative dentistry and
encourage the nation to look after its teeth. It remains committed
to providing free and impartial advice, running educational
campaigns and lobbying on issues such as mouth cancer awareness and
fluoridation.
From Smile House, its aptly named head office in Rugby, the
Foundation endorses a range of over 100 consumer dental products,
organises National Smile Month and Mouth Cancer Action Month to
improve public awareness of oral health issues and persuade the
dental profession to take a more active educational role in their
local communities, and runs the National Dental Helpline.
