Leicester's De Montfort University (DMU) will be hosting a free
event to help businesses learn about getting safe online and
reducing the risks of becoming victims of fraud.
DMU, in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Knowledge
Transfer Network (ICT KTN) and Get Safe Online (GSO), is organising
the event SMEs - Protect Your Business Online to raise awareness of
online safety in support of Get Safe Online Week (7 to 11 November
2011).
Just like people, businesses can become victims of online fraud,
viruses, and identity theft. Get Safe Online aims to help small and
medium sized enterprises learn what straightforward steps they can
take to protect their business online.
During the event, which is taking place at DMU's Bede Island
Building on Wednesday 9 November, there will be key speakers in the
areas of cyber security, data protection and information
assurance.
Keynote speakers and topics include:
Who needs the internet - or security? - Tony Neate, Get Safe
Online
Cyber Threats to SME's - Tony Dyhouse, ICT KTN
What you need to know about the Data Protection Act 1988 - David
Reynolds, IAAITC
Information Assurance and IT Security: SME sensitive; customer
