The pupils of Lighthorne Heath Primary School will be able to
learn their ABCs thanks to MCS.
MCS, a Warwickshire-based construction firm, has helped
transform an open area at the school to create a new library and
music store - with all services being donated free of charge.
Keir Edmonds, managing director of the Claverdon-based firm,
sprung into action when he heard that that the school wanted to
make the improvements but did not have sufficient capital
funds.
"I had been reading about the cut-backs in school funding and
how some improvements had to be shelved, when I heard that
Lighthorne had a need," he said.
"I thought it would be the ideal project to work on to help out
the Warwickshire community so we decided to get on with it and got
all the work done by the end of the summer holiday.
"Although we work right across the UK, we are very much a local
Warwickshire firm with our roots very much in the county.
We were just glad we could help out in this instance."
Lighthorne Heath, based on the Stratford Road, has 70 pupils
aged between 3 and 11.
Head teacher Michelle Barlow said: "The changes are just
fantastic. The work has created a fabulous new library for the
children and it has been used really well at the start of term.
It is wonderful to see a local firm giving such direct help to
the local community and we are very grateful."
