Walsall business people have got together with Walsall Council
to launch a bold new commercial logo for the town centre and the
rest of the borough.
The striking design is set to be used to help market the town
centre across the region and nationally to would-be investors.
Councillor Adrian Andrew, Walsall Council Deputy Leader and
cabinet member for regeneration, said: "We're bucking the national
trend in Walsall town centre attracting investment.
"You only have to look at the plans for a multi-million pound
makeover for the Old Square shopping centre attracting Primark and
the Co-Op back to the town centre.
"Walsall is a place for everyone, a place for business, a place
for shopping, a place for investment, for leisure and for
living.
"To make an even bigger impact on a national scale a logo will
help give a professional image to potential investors in the
town.
"It's also something that has been designed in-house by our own
print and design team after feedback from business."
Presenting a brand for the town is designed to help attract
investment and create and safeguard jobs.
Angela Henderson, Saddlers Shopping Centre manager and Walsall
Town Centre Champion, welcomed the fresh approach.
She said: "This is an approach that will take Walsall into the
future. When you're dealing with big players in the world of retail
and business it helps having a clear brand and this logo helps
Walsall to achieve that.
"It's also been good to have the business community bring their
know how and acumen with this whole approach."
Carl Mitchell, owner of Bonce Salons and Walsall Town Centre
Champion, said the fresh approach was the right one to take.
He added: "It's a positive step. It's fresh and it's different
and it's a logo that shows a town that's moving forward."
Town centre business leaders helped shape the design and
approach which they will be able to use on their websites as well
as with marketing.
Walsall town centre has three indoor shopping centres, an
800-year-old market as well as a variety of independent shops.
Regeneration officers work hard to attract new investment into
the town centre and help make it a place to live, work and
shop.
