Gainsborough-based solicitors firm Burton & Dyson is
offering people the chance to help change the lives of those less
fortunate than themselves by making a Will.
The firm is taking part in Will Aid from 7 to 11 November, when
it will waive its usual fees and instead ask those making their
Will during this time to make a donation to charity.
All money raised through the Will Aid scheme this year will be
shared between nine charities: ActionAid, Age UK, the British Red
Cross, Christian Aid, the NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers,
SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland). So far, the
initiative has raised more than £9 million in donations - and
considerably more in legacies - for good causes since its launch in
1988.
Suggested donations are £85 for a single basic Will,
£125 for a pair of Wills or £40 for a codicil to an
existing Will.
Senior partner Philip Westcott said: "Making a Will is one of
the most thoughtful and important things we can do to protect those
we love, yet it is surprising that fewer than half of people have
made one.
"Most say they simply haven't got around to it and yet it can
take years to sort out someone's estate if they die without a Will,
causing additional stress at what will already be a very difficult
time.
"From 7 to 11 November, we will be offering people the chance to
make their Will through Will Aid, when we will waive our fee and
instead ask for a donation which will go to the worthy causes being
supported by the initiative.
"We hope that as many people as possible will take advantage of
this fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to someone's
life, while also ensuring that their own loved ones are taken care
of."
