Heath, Birmingham was nominated by her colleagues for the
prestigious 'Women of the Year' awards describing her as
'inspirational' and someone who constantly strives to provide the
highest level of service to customers.
Ruth's efforts were rewarded by her employer Barclays who flew
her to New York to attend an event being hosted by the Bank's CEO
Bob Diamond.
Ruth, who has worked for Barclays for 32 years, is also a keen
fundraiser and has supported numerous charities in her local
community including Birmingham Children's Hospital and
Macmillian.
Commenting on her achievement Ruth said: "I was delighted to
hear that I had been shortlisted for these awards but most
important to me is that I was nominated by my team at Small Heath.
I am fortunate to work with some great people and to do a job I
love - even after all these years! New York was an amazing
experience. I got to visit the Barclays Headquarters on 7th Avenue
and made friends with some wonderful ladies from all around the
world."
The Barclays Women of Year awards seek to recognise
inspirational and extraordinary Barclays women who have made a
significant contribution professionally serving customers and
clients, or personally within communities helping to drive the
Barclays Citizenship agenda.
Mike Hill, Barclays Area Director in Birmingham said: "I am very
proud of Ruth and her achievement and it's excellent to see someone
being recognised for the enormous contribution she has made to her
staff and our customers alike."
