Santa staff at a Black Country training company are on the hunt
for helpers so they can raise more than £1,000 for a hospice
when they take part in some festive fun.
Fourteen members of staff at Oldbury-based BCTG (Black Country
Training Group) in Taylors Lane are donning Santa suits for the
Mary Stevens Hospice annual fund-raiser.
The BCTG team, headed up by Jo Robb, is taking part in the Santa
Jog around Mary Stevens Park, in Stourbridge on Sunday December
11.
The team has already raised more than £1,400 for the
charity when staff took part in a midnight walk earlier this
year.
The BCTG team donned fancy dress and completed the nine-mile
walk, which started at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club, Wall Heath,
and took fund-raisers along the pavements of Wordsley, Kingswinford
and Wall Heath.
Now they've swapped their fairy costumes for Santa suits and are
gearing up for the 5k route to get them into the yuletide mood.
Mrs Robb said: "Raising money for charity is something we do at
BCTG every year. We have supported different charities over the
years usually with a summer fund-raiser but this year we are going
that bit further and doing the Santa Jog. We want lots of people to
sponsor us and hopefully we can beat our summer fund-raising
record."
Hospice bosses hope their Santa Jog will help rake in thousands
to help terminally ill patients.
Runners, joggers and walkers are invited to sign up and get a
free Santa suit when they take part. The fun starts at 10.30am.
