As Black Country based charity the British Glass Foundation look
forward to their first birthday on 24th November, the charities
teams at George Green LLP and Clement Keys have come together to
celebrate the formation and 1st successful year.
Based in the Black Country, the British Glass Foundation was
created to be the national lead to promote, educate and inspire
visitors to the rich 400 year history of Stourbridge Glass. Their
aim is to secure the future of the collections and archives, and
work with Dudley and Staffordshire Council to find a suitable and
worthy home for the legacy that is British Glass
The British Glass Foundation is in partnership with Dudley
Council to secure a worthy home for the glass collections and
archives currently held at Broadfield House Glass Museum and Himley
Hall. The collections are a national treasure so all efforts are
being made to find a suitable site, and continue the legacy that is
British Glass. The Foundation are currently liaising closely with
the Council and have had input into the grant application that is
being submitted on the site of the White House Cone site (the old
Stuart Crystal building) in Wordsley. They will also continue to
fully support contemporary glass artists and believe the skill of
glassmaking is vitally important for the future. The focus of their
fundraising in 2012 will be the continued development of the
Foundation and to secure a permanent home in the region.
The British Glass Foundation trustees include Graham Knowles -
Chairman of the British Glass Foundation and President of the
Friends of Broadfield House Glass Museum, Charles Hajdamach, David
