Professor Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor of The University of
Northampton, has travelled to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to meet
with prospective higher education partners from Vietnam National
University (VNU).
Professor Petford, accompanied by a delegation of senior staff,
signed a 'Memorandum of Cooperation' on Monday 24 October with
Vietnam National University, recognising plans for the joint
delivery of The University of Northampton's Master of Business
Administration (MBA) programme in the country.
The occasion featured a signing ceremony for the Memorandum
between Professor Petford and VNU Vice President, Professor Le
Quang Minh. This was followed by further discussions on
collaboration in areas including Northampton's specialist
capabilities in sustainable development, wastes management, IT
systems, and future student and staff exchanges.
The visit to Vietnam, hosted by Dr. Truong Quang Duoc, Vice
Rector of VNU, builds upon previous meetings with The University of
Northampton, which sent representatives from its Northampton
Business School (NBS) to the 10th Anniversary celebrations of
Vietnam National University Centre for International Education in
April this year.
As part of these celebrations NBS signed a progression agreement
which enables students from the Centre for International Education
to gain advanced entry onto a number of NBS undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes. In October 2011 NBS began welcoming its
first students from the Centre for International Education onto
courses in Northampton.
Professor Petford commented: "We are delighted to be working in
close partnership with Vietnam National University and to launch
the University of Northampton MBA programme in Ho Chi Minh City in
collaboration with the Centre for International Education.
"The MBA will be taught jointly by visiting academics from
Northampton Business School, supported by colleagues from Vietnam
National University".
Ian Brooks, Executive Dean of Northampton Business School,
added: "Vietnam National University is one of the most highly
regarded universities in the world. The agreement to deliver The
University of Northampton MBA represents a considerable achievement
for both organisations and also highlights another successful step
in our ongoing internationalisation strategy."
