At a star studded ceremony held at the London Lancaster Gate Hotel last night, over 400 restaurateurs, and industry specialists, packed the opulent dining suite, to hear the nominees and celebrate the lucky winners.

The King and Thai were praised for their fresh produce and true authentic Thai cuisine, and commended for their commitment to customer requirements.

The National Asian Curry Awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence across the whole Asian dining sector in the UK. The awards went to the establishment who, in the eyes of the panel of expert judges, had made an exceptional contribution to the UK curry industry. Chef Suree Coates commented: "We were so delighted to be nominated, and then to win is unbelievable. To be recognised for our achievements by this highly prestigious award and be amongst such successful fellow nominees is way beyond our wildest dreams."

Since their move from Ironbridge up the road to the Forester Arms in Broseley, The King and Thai have been wowing customers from across the region, and beyond, with their focus on authentic Thai Cuisine, fusing with local ingredients including meats from Gibbons  butchers in Broseley for their signature 'Weeping Tiger' dish using 28 day aged fillet steak,  "This award helps recognise the dedication of our team, and the support and on-going feedback from our customers, which we take very seriously. We focus on the best the region has to offer, and ensure that all our ingredients are fresh, and true to traditions - using fresh herbs, and spices, and fresh sauces, local meats and free range eggs - we don't use any artificial ingredients, and even grow some of them ourselves in our gardens at the rear". Suree also unusually specialises in creating incredible hand-made desserts, many gluten free, praised by judges and customers alike.

James Day, Director of Bridgnorth based Leisure Marketing Midlands LTD and www.gourmet-life.co.uk dining club who specialise in supporting the regions chefs and restaurateurs, and accompanied Suree to the awards added "This high profile award helps continue to highlight the success of the Midlands in not only producing some of the finest produce, but also that our chefs also keep raising the standards to compete with, and clearly become, some of the best restaurants in the Country."

The awards were presented by industry experts including the founder of the 'Curry Club' Pat Chapman, and Lord Bradford in the presence of media and politicians including Rt.Hon. Simon Hughes MP. Suree adds "We would just like to thank all our customers for their on-going support and the judges for their recognition and kind words of encouragement."
