At a star studded ceremony held at the London Lancaster Gate
Hotel last night, over 400 restaurateurs, and industry specialists,
packed the opulent dining suite, to hear the nominees and celebrate
the lucky winners.
The King and Thai were praised for their fresh produce and true
authentic Thai cuisine, and commended for their commitment to
customer requirements.
The National Asian Curry Awards are designed to recognise and
reward excellence across the whole Asian dining sector in the UK.
The awards went to the establishment who, in the eyes of the panel
of expert judges, had made an exceptional contribution to the UK
curry industry. Chef Suree Coates commented: "We were so delighted
to be nominated, and then to win is unbelievable. To be recognised
for our achievements by this highly prestigious award and be
amongst such successful fellow nominees is way beyond our wildest
dreams."
Since their move from Ironbridge up the road to the Forester
Arms in Broseley, The King and Thai have been wowing customers from
across the region, and beyond, with their focus on authentic Thai
Cuisine, fusing with local ingredients including meats from Gibbons
butchers in Broseley for their signature 'Weeping Tiger' dish
using 28 day aged fillet steak, "This award helps recognise
the dedication of our team, and the support and on-going feedback
from our customers, which we take very seriously. We focus on the
best the region has to offer, and ensure that all our ingredients
are fresh, and true to traditions - using fresh herbs, and spices,
and fresh sauces, local meats and free range eggs - we don't use
any artificial ingredients, and even grow some of them ourselves in
our gardens at the rear". Suree also unusually specialises in
creating incredible hand-made desserts, many gluten free, praised
by judges and customers alike.

The awards were presented by industry experts including the
founder of the 'Curry Club' Pat Chapman, and Lord Bradford in the
presence of media and politicians including Rt.Hon. Simon Hughes
MP. Suree adds "We would just like to thank all our customers for
their on-going support and the judges for their recognition and
kind words of encouragement."
