Stratford MP briefed on CPBigwood merger

Stratford-upon-Avon MP Nadhim Zahawi visited CPBigwood's Union Street offices for a briefing on the benefits arising from the firm's merger with Birmingham property consultancy Curry & Partners.

Joint managing director Rory Daly told him that the merger had created one of the largest independent property firms outside of London - an £8 million fee income business with a staff of 125.

He cited auctions and property management as two of the newly merged firm's principal strengths.

"We hold the largest auctions outside of the capital and in combining our joint expertise in property management, we have created significant mass and momentum in this area of the business," he said.

CPBigwood's Stratford directors Simon Gibbs and Graham Carter along with head of country homes Tom Dennes took the opportunity to lobby their MP on their views on the local housing market, planning and funding issues.

Tom Dennes told him: "Your comments on the Localism Bill were interesting and it will be fascinating to see how these are both interpreted and implemented at local council level."

As well as property management and auctions, CPBigwood provides the full range of professional services including commercial and residential agency, lettings, valuations, surveying, building and development consultancy and town planning.

It has offices in Summer Row and Colmore Row, Birmingham, Henley-in-Arden and Stratford-upon-Avon.

The name Bigwood has been part of the world of property throughout the Midlands since 1845.

Edwards Son & Bigwood, Edwards Bigwood & Bewlay and Colliers Bigwood & Bewlay are names well know to property owners and professionals alike. It is from this established family tree that the business has grown and now includes the practices of Leeson Son & Hackett, Cecil Cariss & Son, Robert Martin Associates, Thomas Pinson & Sons, Smith Balla, and Peter Checkley & Co, all of which have become part of Bigwood Chartered Surveyors.
