Squash teams from local businesses in Leicester celebrated a
competitive summer at a special awards night. Sponsored by leading
architectural and engineering consultancy Pick Everard, The Summer
Business League is a popular annual event at Leicester Squash Club.
Running for over 25 years the Summer Business League is open to
local businesses and organisations. Having entered a team for 12
years Pick Everard has been the sponsor for the past two years and
will continue for a third year to September 2012.
The league comprises four divisions, each with six teams. A
challenging season from May to September involves each team playing
every other in its own division twice, totting up 30 matches per
division - 120 matches overall. This season hard-fought matches
resulted in three of the leagues being won by less than ten points
and Division 4 decided by just a single point. Division 2 winners
Melton successfully defended their title from 2010, while the other
three divisions all delivered first time winners.
Duncan Green, Pick Everard Partner, said this year's league had
provided a great season with some extremely tough, but hugely
exciting, matches. "The Pick Everard Summer Business League gives
local firms the chance to meet and play squash in an informal
setting. There's some great competition and a lot of fun can be
had, with friendly rivalries developed on the squash court, with
the potential for networking opportunities off court."
