Hadley Park House Hotel head chef, Mark Harris, has just
returned to Shropshire after a week of cooking for David Cameron,
The Cabinet, and assorted VIP guests at the Conservative Party
Conference in Manchester.
The previous week, he was in Liverpool, catering for the
great-and-the-good at the Labour Party Conference.
Booked to work at both of these high profile events before
joining Shropshire's Hadley Park House Hotel in June, Mark Harris
has spent much of the last two weeks giving the country's leading
politicians plenty of food for thought.
"I'd been booked to do this from a long time back, and I didn't
want to let anyone down. Thankfully, the owner of Hadley Park House
Hotel, Mr Lewis, saw these as sufficiently high profile events to
allow me the time away from Telford," says Mark Harris.
Working side-by-side with Steve Wilson, with whom he had
previously worked at the 5-star Lowry Hotel in Manchester, the two
chefs made sure that David Cameron, his entire cabinet and many VIP
guests were well catered-for for throughout the Party
Conference.
Part of the aim was to also ensure that the new team managing
Manchester Central (the largest conference and banqueting centre in
the city) was also shown in a good light.
"The feedback we had from them was that this was some of the
best food they've had served here since taking over the operation
of the venue," says Mark Harris, adding that they are hoping to
capture some major business as a result.
"Steve and I were in charge of all of the high profile dinners
this week, and it's all been a very positive time for us. And
now, I'm hoping some of the reflected glory will also shine on
Hadley Park House Hotel."
Harris, aged 29, learned his craft at nearby Radbrook Catering
College, but more recently ran his own chef consultancy business -
concentrating on event catering - with highlights being his time
working at several of the world's top class sporting events, such
as Royal Ascot, the Formula One British Grand Prix, and Premiership
games at Old Trafford, as well as the BBC Sports Personality Awards
in Manchester.
Hadley Park House Hotel & Restaurant, meanwhile, re-launched
its conservatory restaurant only recently at a gala dinner when the
new name 'Dorrells Restaurant' was announced.
Hadley Park House Hotel in Telford has been owned and operated
by Mark and Geraldine Lewis since 2003. They have steadily built a
reputation for quality dining, comfortable accommodation and
exceptional service; and following the period of refurbishment,
investment and development the hotel now offers 22 luxury bedrooms,
a 140-seater function suite and a dedicated Restaurant.
