West Midlands based construction company Shaylor has raised
around £3,500 for Birmingham Children's Hospital from a
charity football tournament that was supported by a range of
construction and property businesses from around the region.
The tournament was the first major fundraising event undertaken
by Shaylor since they embarked on their campaign to raise
£10,000 towards equipment for the Paediatric Intensive Care
Unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Eighteen teams competed, including a team from Birmingham
Children's Hospital itself, at the regions premier 5 a side venue,
Birmingham @Futsal Arena.
Ian Kilvington, business development executive at Shaylor, said:
"A big thank you to all who participated in the tournament, the
sponsors of the event, volunteers and the Futsal staff.
Congratulations to team JLT Specialty Limited part of the JLT Group
who were the 2011 champions.
"It was a great evening, great football and lots of fun."
Shahaji Begum, of Birmingham Children's Hospital, said: "We
would like to thank Shaylor for their continued support of
Birmingham Children's Hospital. The football tournament was a
brilliant event and the Birmingham Children's Hospital team had
lots of fun too."
At the tournament there was also a raffle which included prizes
such as a signed Aston Villa shirt, a Futsal hoodie and a free hour
pitch hire at Futsal.
Some of the teams that took part in the event included Shaylor
Group, Birmingham Gateway, Browne Jacobson, Gleeds Cost Management,
GVA Grimley Building, JLT Group, Tweedale, Gateley, Wyckham
Blackwell, Stetchford Police, D&I Building Services, and
RLB.
The sponsors of the event were Midland Ventilation, Weir Waste,
React Building Services, Brandon Hire, HM Lowe & Son, Ian
Smiths, Locks & Fittings, Arnold Lever, AG Shakesphere and
Peter Hill Flooring.
