Jetstream Europe has won praise after its equipment was chosen
for a challenging hydro demolition task at the London 2012 Olympic
Park.
Its high-performance water jetting machines were used to remove
24 cubic metres of concrete from an abutment wall and parapets of a
bridge which provides access for delivery vehicles to the Olympic
Village in Stratford.
Contractor Blast Clean Services undertook the operation in two
stages, which made way for the installation of extra reinforcement
bars to strengthen the bridge.
Initially, BCS employed a Jetstream 125hp (92kW) pump unit to
remove 7 cubic metres of concrete from the wall while the final
phase used two Jetstream 190hp (140kW) machines to take away a
further 17 cubic metres from the parapets.
Managing director Eddie Jenkins was not only impressed with the
service provided by Jetstream Europe's sales team, but also the
speedy maintenance capabilities of the equipment.
"Having been in the industry for over 15 years, I know that
stripping a pump down and repairing the internal parts can take
half a day. We had very few issues with these units and, in the
event of a problem, we had them back up and running in an hour," he
said.
Jetstream Europe machines were also recently chosen for a hydro
demolition task on an 8-mile section of the M80 near Glasgow as
part of a multi-million pound project to upgrade the motorway.
The Halesowen-based company has supplied water jetting equipment
for the refurbishment of Blackpool Tower, which is due for
completion in 2015.
