Leading Shropshire and Herefordshire law firm, Lanyon Bowdler
has welcomed two new trainee solicitors, Kate Baker and Katherine
Marriott-Lodge.
Prior to joining Lanyon Bowdler, Kate worked for the National
Farmers Union for almost 11 years, firstly as a legal adviser and
then in the Legal Assistance team, providing support to members
involved in disputes relating to their farming and growing
businesses. She completed her law degree at Hull University,
graduating with a 2:1 and, whilst still working for the NFU,
undertook the LPC course part-time in the evenings.
Away from the office Kate has four young boys to keep her busy,
and enjoys a variety of social activities, especially outdoor
pursuits. She is undertaking her first seat as a trainee in the
firm's Personal Injury department based at the Shrewsbury
office.
Katherine is also based at the Shrewsbury office, completing her
first seat within the Clinical Negligence department. She graduated
from Coventry University in 2009 also with a 2:1 in Law, and
completed the LPC in Chester. In her spare time, Katherine is a
keen horse rider and owns a horse named Izzy. She also enjoys
walking, accompanied by her dog Jess.
Both Katherine and Kate will spend time in different departments
within the firm during their two year training contracts, before
qualifying as solicitors in 2013.
Training partner Colin Spanner said "Despite the downturn in the
economy and the reluctance from many firms to take on trainee
solicitors, Lanyon Bowdler continue to recruit trainee solicitors
on an annual basis and have been delighted to retain those who
qualified this year."
