New partner appointed at Berrys

Chartered surveyors group Berrys has appointed associate Stephen Locke a Partner with the firm. Stephen, who heads the planning and environment team at Shrewsbury, took on the role at the beginning of October.

"We are delighted to welcome Stephen as a partner and congratulate him on his promotion," said Matthew Anwyl, managing partner of Berrys.

"Stephen has been with the firm for over 10 years, joining us from ADAS in 2001 and during that time he been responsible for the extremely successful expansion and development of the planning department within the Shrewsbury office," he said.

Stephen left Seale Hayne College, Devon with a Diploma in Rural Resource Management in 1990 and went on to graduate from Harper Adams College with a BSc Hons Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management in 1993.  He then qualified as a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the CAAV, before joining Berrys' Shrewsbury office as a senior practitioner in 2001.  He became an Associate Partner in 2007 and is currently the lead consultant for the team of planning and environment specialists at Shrewsbury.

He provides advice and assistance on a wide variety of matters including planning and development work, forestry, diversification and grants consultancy, environmental consultancy, and general rural business advice. In 2007 his planning work won a CLA Rural Buildings Award.

He is a lecturer for the Shropshire Fresh Start Academy farm business training scheme and is a member of the RICS RECAP committee providing training for fellow professionals.

Married with three children, Stephen lives at Lilleshall, Newport where he takes an active role in village life.
