On 12th October 2011, National Training Resources Ltd will host
this first conference to examine issues within education and
enterprise to develop more and better entrepreneurs in the UK and
how they can influence how enterprises are created and grown. The
conference will be chaired by Professor David Rae, Director for
Enterprise & Innovation, University of Lincoln.
The Keynote speaker: Greg Chammings, Enterprise Policy &
Strategy, BIS, says:
The Government's strategy is focused upon raising appetite and
capability for enterprise, focusing upon school children and those
groups where the evidence shows there is capacity for greater
realisation of entrepreneurial ambition, including women and young
black men.
Evidence from the UK and Norway demonstrates that the 'natural'
confidence very young children have in enterprise as a career
option is eroded by the time they leave primary school. However,
where children engage in real-life enterprise activity at school,
perceptions and confidence are transformed. That is why our
strategy focuses upon providing children in school with actual
enterprise experiences and, building upon this early stimulus,
ensuring that students in FE and HE can access enterprise
support.
Another Key speaker - Sabirul Islam, Founder and CEO, The World
at Your Feet ® and creator of the term: Teen-Treprenuer
says:
The Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Conference is a need and a
must! There are too many young people who are not employed, in
education or in any sort of training. Events such as this bring
together people who are able to express their views, illustrate
their concern and provide opportunities and pathways to ensure
action is taken in the correct manner to support today's youth.
Entrepreneurship needs to be taught from grass route levels.
Every person has the ability to be enterprising, and the sooner
that the role of enterprise is included in the academic system you
will see greater transformation in the way people think, and the
way people take action.
We face a challenge where the society is trying to drive every
person through a single and very narrow pathway in life. No longer
does a university degree feel like an extraordinary accomplishment
or securing a top job at a large corporation. Because you just
don't know how long you will be there for!
Entrepreneurship provides a vital 'plan B' in life. Yes, having
a top job is fantastic. But the role of entrepreneurship in today's
society is far more valuable, brings greater prosperity, more
opportunities and ultimately more success! The conference will be a
key learning platform for all, as to what must be done to encourage
more youth to seek entrepreneurship as a career path. And not just
for the sake of earning money, but creating positive change.
