The Down's Syndrome Group Northampton has been boosted by a
donation of £2643.13 from a team of Lombard/NatWest employees
after they completed a 23-mile fundraising challenge in the
Scottish Highlands.
Andy Buswell, Richard Cameron, Paul Osker, Laura Holmes, Melissa
Ball, Hiten Sonpal, Alex Mccallum, Allen Brunton, Ben Chilvers,
Helen Hood & Colin Griffiths from Lombard & NatWest
Commercial Bank situated in Grange Park, Northampton took part in
the Great Highland Hike for Local Communities in June, walking from
Fort William to Glencoe in less than 12 hours.
Darren Jones, chairman of the charity said: "The Down Syndrome
Group Northamptonshire are absolutely delighted with this donation.
The funds will be used to enhance the lives of people with Down
syndrome and will contribute hugely to the activities of the
charity. On behalf of all at DSGN I'd like to congratulate and
thank the individuals who have dedicated their time and efforts to
raising such a large sum of money."
Andy Buswell, senor relationship manager at Lombard added: 'The
Down's Syndrome Group in Northampton plays a critical role in the
local community across the region, providing support to many
hundreds of people. The Great Highland Hike was a tough challenge
but it was worthwhile knowing we were able to make a contribution
to the work that Northampton Down's Syndrome Group does. It was
also great to know the bank was supporting our efforts through its
staff volunteering programme."
The charity provides support to families who have a connection
with Down Syndrome, bringing these families together to offer
advice, share experiences and learn from each other. The charity is
run by people with direct experience of Down Syndrome, in most
cases parents.
The Great Highland Hike for Local Communities was organised as
part of the RBS employee volunteering programme in partnership with
the Scottish Community Foundation. The RBS programme encourages its
employees to support charities in their local area. The Great
Highland Hike event has raised over £300,000 in total for
local charities and communities across the UK.
