A manager at a Hereford employment and training specialist was
so impressed and touched by the work of a local charity that she
nominated Little Princess Trust for a donation from the company's
payroll giving scheme.
The Little Princess Trust provides the best quality real hair
wigs from all over the world to children in Britain and Ireland
suffering hair loss due to serious illness including cancer or
leukaemia along with personal fitting and styling. Based in offices
at the Hereford Cathedral School, the charity provides help at the
most traumatic time for children and parents.
Louise Hyett who works for Pertemps People Development Group in
St Owen Street has witnessed the good works of the charity at first
hand.
"Having seen the inspirational work that the Little Princess
trust has achieved and the difference that it makes to children's
lives, I felt compelled to offer the support under our Give As You
Earn scheme," said Louise.
"Hopefully the contribution will enable them to continue the
good work and support even more families."
Wendy Tarplee-Morris a trustee gave an insight into the work the
Little Princess Trust carries out.
She said: "The charity has now been running for nearly six years
and we have helped around 850 children by providing them with wigs
and hairpieces.
"The donation from Louise and her colleagues will help us
purchase additional wigs, it's a contribution that will be valued
and appreciated by the people we help.
"It really helps with their wellbeing, aiding recovery and
providing a sense of dignity whilst they are going through such an
ordeal."
The demands on the charity are increasing each year.
"Out of the 850 families we have helped almost half of those
have been this year alone and the demand is there so the money we
receive from generous people goes a long way to making sure we
carry on helping as many people as possible," added Administration
Manager Monica Glass.
"We need to raise awareness of the service to enable us to help
increasing numbers of people."
PPDG has an extensive community support programme and is itself
extremely proud of recently surpassing the £150,000 milestone
of giving back through payroll donations since its launch in
2004.
