A new Leicester-based family law firm is experiencing rapid
growth after securing working capital and start-up business plan
support from Lloyds TSB Commercial.
Glynis Wright launched her own niche family law and mediation
practice at 5 Bowling Green Street, Leicester in April. She started
her career impressively - after being qualified as a solicitor for
only two years she was promoted to partner at her previous
firm.
Glynis Wright Family Solicitors is a specialist family law firm
dealing with all traditional divorce services as well as
cohabitation breakups, disputes arising over contact or residence
of children, and prenuptial agreements. A qualified mediator,
Glynis also encourages couples to settle out of court in a
constructive way.
The firm currently employs two members of staff and is looking
to recruit a legal executive or assistant solicitor after
experiencing unprecedented success far ahead of plan. Turnover is
double what Glynis expected with the majority of her clients
following her from her previous company, combined with a high
volume of new clients through recommendations.
Glynis said: "I joined the legal profession later than most
people at the age of 37, and knew it was for me from the outset.
Family law in particular struck a chord with me and it is great to
be able to combine my career as a divorce lawyer with helping
people through what can be one of the most difficult times in their
lives.
"The working capital facilities, and particularly the excellent
guidance Lloyds TSB Commercial provided when I was setting up the
firm, has been invaluable. Having never launched a business before,
my relationship manager Villy has given me the reassurance and
confidence to pull together my business plan and is always at the
end of the phone if I need any support.
"I achieved great success very quickly at my previous firm with
whom I still have a great working relationship but eventually I
realised that it was time for me to go it alone. Mediation is an
area of the business that I plan to develop over the coming months.
It is a far more cost effective route for couples and saves the
extra heartache caused when battling it out in the courts."
Villy Chauhan, relationship manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial,
said: "Glynis is very passionate about the work that she does. It
is fantastic to see her fledgling divorce practice go from strength
to strength and the mediation side of the business take off.
"Lloyds TSB Commercial offers 18 months free day to day banking
for start-ups and it is companies like Glynis' that really benefit
from this. It can be very daunting when starting a new business on
your own but careful planning and a lot of hard work are key to
success.
"Our SME Charter includes a promise to help 100,000 start-ups
each year in the run up to 2012, and through our business seminars
we have given guidance and support to entrepreneurs just like
Glynis who are looking to set up on their own."
