Midlands-based automotive manufacturer, Sertec Group Holdings
has expanded into new premises after being awarded a contract to
supply components for Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) new Evoque
model.
In a deal brokered by Graham Darby of G. R. Darby & Co. Ltd
in Coleshill, acting on behalf of Sertec, and Jonathan Robinson of
DTZ in Birmingham, acting on behalf of Box Telematics, Sertec has
taken 36,041 sq ft of space at Unit 2, Trillennium in Coleshill,
Warwickshire.
The unit comprises a self-contained modern production and
warehouse unit with office accommodation and a separate car park
and yard area. Trillennium forms part of the recent expansion of
the Coleshill Industrial Estate which is approximately 11 miles
east of Birmingham city centre, close to the NEC and Birmingham
Airport and with excellent motorway connections.
Jonathan Robinson, Associate Director at DTZ in Birmingham,
said: "JLR's announcement earlier this year that it intends to keep
its manufacturing operation in the Midlands has helped to boost the
regional industrial market as many suppliers look set to expand
from current premises in order to service large orders. Sertec's
expansion at Trillennium, a modern and well located industrial
estate, is testament to this."
Sertec is a Tier 1 supplier of transfer and progression
presswork, welded assemblies, tube manipulation, wire forming and
deep drawn components. The Birmingham operation supplies presswork
and welded assemblies to JLR and currently employs 275 people at
its Coleshill factory, generating a turnover of £40 million.
It is anticipated the expansion at Trillennium could lead to an
additional 25 jobs at the plant.
Graham Darby of G. R. Darby, who acted on behalf of Sertec,
commented: "In order to facilitate the expansion of Sertec's
business to service the JLR contract, they required premises in the
Coleshill area which could offer good quality industrial space in
an accessible location. The unit at Trillennium fitted the bill and
the facility will be used for the production of body panels for the
new Evoque model."
