Wates Construction has boosted its Midlands operation with the
appointment of Andrew Hands as Business Manager.
In a move to strengthen its senior team in the East and West
Midlands, the appointment comes as Wates prepares to grow its
regional presence in sectors including commercial, higher education
and senior living.
Hands has been with the Birmingham-based company for 10 years
and his new position will see him the lead the team of 150
construction professionals as Wates embarks upon an ambitious
growth plan. Targeted with significantly increasing market share,
Hands will look to enhance business efficiency, improve safety
standards, deliver the utmost quality from start to finish, and
ensure that all projects exceed the demands of Wates' customers.
Hands is also tasked with contributing to the company's Group-wide
ambition to become the first contractor to deliver 100% of projects
on time, on budget, every time.
Living in Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, Hands (36) joined
Wates as a Quantity Surveyor in 2001 before steadily rising to his
most recent position as Regional Commercial Manager where he
oversaw the commercial delivery of Wates' construction projects in
the region.
Phil Harrison, Managing Director for Wates Construction in the
Midlands and North commented: "As well as having in-depth knowledge
of Wates, Andy has shown great enthusiasm and dedication for
improving the service we offer to clients and has significantly
contributed to the region's successes to date. He was a natural
choice to take over the day to day running of the team in the
Midlands."
In addition to his business commitments, Andy is a keen
fundraiser and recently took part in the three peaks challenge in
order to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
