Leading Black Country law firm George Green LLP have recently
advised Holly Hall School Mathematics and Computing College on its
conversion to The Holly Hall Academy. The new Academy which opened
its doors to students in September is a successful, mixed, 11-16
school located on the edge of the Russells Hall Estate. The
Headteacher is Graham Lloyd and the Chair of Governors is Michael
Price.
The conversion to Academy status took place after extensive
consultation with staff and parents, and George Green LLP provided
guidance throughout the process, liaising closely with the
Governing Body. As Holly Hall was a Foundation School until
conversion, the Governing Body has experience in running a school
successfully outside local authority control and hopes that the
greater freedoms which Academy status brings will enable it to
continue to improve and enhance the education of its students.
The George Green advisory team was led by Corporate Associate
Philip Round who in addition to his role as legal advisor was able
to bring additional experience through his role as LEA Governor
prior to the conversion, and he will continue to be a Governor of
the Academy.
The Holly Hall Academy Principal Graham Lloyd commented "The
opening of The Holly Hall Academy is the latest chapter in the
continuing success story of Holly Hall. We are confident that, with
the support we receive from parents, carers and the community, The
Holly Hall Academy will continue to live up to its vision of
"Excellence for Everyone"".
George Green's Philip Round said "Working closely with such a
committed and enthusiastic body of governors and staff has been a
rewarding experience. It has been a pleasure to assist Holly
Hall in realising its ambition to become an Academy, particularly
as it performs such an important role in the local community. I
look forward to continuing to work with the Academy in my role as
Governor, as it enters an exciting new era."
