Organisers of outdoor events across Shropshire are being urged to take advantage of a dedicated new service aimed at helping them meet stringent health and safety rules and regulations.

Building Trust in Safety Ltd, a health and safety consultancy based just outside Shrewsbury, has launched an Outdoor Events Health and Safety Pack tailored to meet the specific needs of organisers of a whole host of public events, from county shows and carnivals, to horse racing or motorsports hospitality. The pack includes all relevant policies, documents, and templates required for the event to comply with all necessary health and safety requirements.

Ruth Ross, Managing Director of Building Trust in Safety, explained: "Each different type of outdoor event will, of course, have its own particular health and safety needs. But the event organiser and landowner bear ultimate responsibility for meeting all relevant legal obligations and it's crucial they put robust plans in place to ensure the event passes without any unwanted accidents or incidents.

"Depending on the event in question, there are a huge range of issues to bear in mind, from carrying out initial risk assessments and obtaining all necessary licenses and permissions, right the way through to arranging suitable public liability insurance, putting in place traffic management systems, planning on-site First Aid provision, and coordinating crowd control with appropriately-trained stewards."

In addition to receiving all the relevant policies, templates, and legal documents needed to meet their health and safety requirements, event organisers also have the opportunity to arrange a more in-depth consultation, where an expert from Building Trust in Safety Ltd will undertake a site visit, offer advice, and suggest any suitable training that might be necessary.

"Many of the alternatives currently available to event organisers are 'off the shelf, one size fits all' solutions that don't specifically take into account the needs of the particular business, so people often end up paying for elements they don't actually require. As our packs are completely tailored to the individual needs of the particular type of event, organisers can be rest-assured their requirements will be met at a cost-effective price," Ruth concluded.
