As the first stage in a wider programme of refurbishment The
Regency Hotel in South Kensington, which is London's largest
independent hotel, commissioned Leicester based Interior Architects
Heterarchy to create a luxurious , contemporary private members
lounge from what was their gym.
On a modest budget Heterarchy has achieved spectacular results
with a space finished to extremely high standards with lined walls
in stretched fabrics and rich veneers, smooth surface finishes and
folding panels to define it's different uses throughout the
day.
They have created a contemporary, luxurious yet intimate space
that accommodates a multitude of uses for The Regency's premium
guests; from breakfast in the morning, as a work space for guests
throughout the day (all technology is discreetly hidden in
thedesign) to a relaxing lounge and bar area in the evenings.
Harish Patel, the owner of The Regency Hotel says that:
"Heterarchy has produced an interior that provides a real sense
of luxury and intimacy. We're delighted with the end result and it
sits well within the historic fabric of our hotel. It feels like
such a special place to be".
Tony Matters, Creative Director at Heterarchy says that:
"Good Design is about being creative to find clever solutions,
giving a space a strong identity and ultimately providing a richer
experience for those that use it. This project is proof that these
things can be achieved without compromise"
· This is the creation of an 'added
value' contemporary space within a historical building
· Given the current economic
situation it was achieved on a modest budget
· It represents responsible luxury
with most finishes and products sourced locally to The Regency
· It represents a complete
transformation of a functional space to a luxurious, but multi
functional space that works hard for the hotel owners yet gives a
sense of sanctuary to the guests who will us it.
