Drivers Jonas Deloitte project managers celebrated an impressive
win recently at the British Construction Industry Awards, as The
Royal Shakespeare Company won the Major Project Award for projects
over £50m.
More than 900 of the biggest names in the British Construction
industry packed out the Great Room of the Grosvenor House, London,
for the most anticipated night of the construction calendar.
Construction Industry Awards are the UK's top accolade for overall
excellence in building and civil engineering projects.
Stephen Hing, project manager for Drivers Jonas Deloitte and
head of project management for the RSC transformation, said: "We
are delighted with this award for our client. The Royal Shakespeare
Theatre project has been a very ambitious and complex project to
marry the best elements of the existing buildings, with a brief to
deliver a world leading new auditorium alongside first class
backstage and audience facilities.
"It is testament to the hard work, commitment and excellent
working relationships demonstrated across this diverse project team
that this iconic theatrical site reopened without a hitch, on
schedule, on budget with full productions in February 2011."
Vikki Heywood, Executive Director for the Royal Shakespeare
Company, said: "The transformation project has been a huge
achievement involving a large group of people from many different
specialisms. I'm delighted that we've won the award which
recognises the team work and dedication of those involved and the
pleasure our audiences have enjoyed in the transformation of our
Stratford-upon-Avon home."
The project is one of two from the Drivers Jonas Deloitte
advisory portfolio that won awards at the event, the other being
The Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award for the
Veoldrome, at the Olympic Park.
