Dains, chartered accountants and business advisers with offices
across the Midlands are pleased to announce the appointment of four
new recruits to their graduate programme. The students will be
studying for the ACA or ACCA qualification and have joined the Tax,
Audit and Business Recovery & Insolvency teams within the
firm.
The four new recruits are: Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Angela
Pitsillides, Kayleigh Burton and Avais Sharif.
Overseeing the graduate recruitment - Mike Castree, Partner at
Dains comments: "At a time when virtually all sectors of business
are keeping an eye on expenditure and perhaps putting future plans
for growth on hold, we believe that fostering and retaining the
region's graduates is essential for our business development.
Our new graduates are a welcome addition to a very strong and
committed team and I wish them all the best in their careers with
us."
Traditionally Dains has appointed mainly graduates to undertake
the challenging training to become a qualified accountant, however,
for the first time the firm has opened up its trainee scheme to
take on 3 - 16/17 year old GCSE students as apprentices to train
for a career in accountancy.
Elliot Bradley, Jake McBride and Lewis Palmer are working within
the Commercial Services Department and will be studying for their
AAT qualification.
Mike continues: "Many of the applicants to the apprentice scheme
told us that they wanted to become accountants but had become
disillusioned by the university route. Many were unhappy about the
amount of debt they are likely to run up while studying combined
with the reduction in job opportunities when they qualify. By going
down the apprentice route, students not only receive the necessary
funding to complete their technical qualifications but also receive
a salary which means financially they are much better off. Dains
has a strong learning culture and thanks to their attitude and
effort they have fitted into the business very well."
