A state-of-the-art medical research facility being built by
Rugby-based construction firm Stepnell at Warwick Medical School
has reached roof level and is on course for completion in December
2011.
The new Centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology at Warwick
Medical School was funded by the University of Warwick, The Wolfson
Foundation and the Science City Research Alliance's Translational
Medicine Project. The three-storey laboratory facility is being
built to BREEAM 'Excellent' standard for environmental performance
and will have an 'A' rated Energy Efficiency Certificate,
incorporating sustainable technology including photovoltaic roof
panels.
The £4.3 million building, funded by the University of
Warwick, Advantage West Midlands for Birmingham Science City and
the Wolfson Foundation, adjoins the Clinical Trials Unit building
on the university's Gibbet Hill Road campus.
