Conference
Budgeting, exercise and DIY tips were some of the hot topics of
the day at whg's annual customer conference.
Around 50 customers attended the free event at The Crossing at
St Paul's in Darwall Street, Walsall, and took part in DIY taster
sessions and interactive quizzes.
The conference, which was open to all customers of whg - the
borough's largest housing provider - was themed around 'Changing
Times' and guest speaker Andy Whittaker told delegates how to be
brilliant regardless of life's obstacles.
It provided people with a chance to find out about the work whg
is involved in, from housing to health and wellbeing, education and
employment.
Tim Rymond, Manager of whg's Skills Centre, delivered a DIY
taster session to give delegates the chance to try something
practical. Other workshops included a taster of Active Steps, an
exercise programme for people who have previously experienced a
fall or are frightened of falling.
There was also a chance to learn more about the initiatives
being carried out by whg to help customers access financial advice
and budgeting techniques.
Lynne Reynolds-Gough, whg's Resident Engagement Manager, said:
"We were really pleased with how many people came along and the
response we got. We wanted to give people the chance to take part
in useful, practical sessions so they could take something away and
felt it was a really rewarding day for everyone that attended."
