A leading Shropshire business consultant whose firm has just won
a contract to provide support to a manufacturing company in Dubai
says the Middle East is ripe with export opportunities for UK
companies.
Mark Harris, managing director of The Business Company in
Shrewsbury, returned from Dubai last week after a round of meetings
with directors of Ductwork Solutions ME. Mr Harris gained the
contract for his firm following a personal recommendation from
solicitors.
"When I was in Dubai last week I was surprised to see just how
many UK companies have moved their operations out there," he said.
"In terms of global expansion the Middle East is ideally located
but many businesses are also keen to partner with UK based
companies, particularly for support services.
"Research by UK Trade & Investment in Dubai suggests that
companies exporting their product or services have increased
productivity by more than 30% in the first year, achieving stronger
financial performance and being 11% more likely to stay in
business. It is widely thought that getting into Gulf markets can
be a springboard into world markets, including the US."
