A 21-year-old from Gwynedd with a spinal cord injury has taken
part in a fundraising drive by classic car lovers.
Derfel Parry, who is a service user of Telford-based care
specialists the Complete Group, recently participated in the
Snowdonia Ford Tour 2011.
The Tour brings together the owners of classic Fords, mainly
dating from before 1981, for an annual trip through north Wales to
raise money for a chosen charity.
The charity supported by this year's event, which took place
last month, was Hope House Children's Hospices, which runs two
hospices, one in Oswestry, Shropshire and the other in Conwy,
Wales.
So far the Tour has raised more than £3,200 for the
hospice.
Olive Jones is Derfel's care manager and worked as his personal
assistant for two years.
She said: "I have known Derfel for many years as his PA and care
manager. He is a very shy person but loves his classic cars.
"We're all extremely proud of his fundraising drive. Through his
efforts, the Ford Tour has raised thousands of pounds for an
extremely worthwhile cause."
The passionate Manchester United fan took part in the Tour over
the 10th and 11th September.
