Mr Paparazzi - flamboyant photographer Darryn Lyons - will be
revealing his secrets when he addresses a Birmingham Press Club
Celebrity Luncheon on Friday, October 21.
The event is being sponsored by Bournville College, which
celebrates the official opening of its new £66 million
Longbridge campus on October 26.
The luncheon is being held at the Annexe Restaurant, 220
Corporation Street, Birmingham, B4 6QB.
Having just emerged from Channel 5's Celebrity Big Brother,
where he was one of the housemates, 46- year-old Darryn will be in
the firing line as Press Club members and guests demand to know the
gossip behind the headlines - and the paparazzi-style photographs
that Darryn's agency send around the world.
A highly-successful entrepreneur in his own right, whose Big
Pictures empire is now a multi-million pound business, Darryn
started his career on a local newspaper in his home State of
Victoria. Then, at the age of 22 he moved to the UK and took a job
on the News of the World after a chance meeting with Rupert
Murdoch. Later, Darryn joined the Daily Mail and completed two
tours of Sarajevo as a war correspondent covering the Bosnian
War.
In 1992, Darryn founded Big Pictures, a thriving agency
supplying paparazzi-style photographs to media outlets around the
world. He gained widespread attention when Big Pictures sold a
photograph to the News of the World, which was used to support a
claim that football star David Beckham was having an affair with
his PA, Rebecca Loos.
Apart from making regular radio and television appearances in
the UK, Darryn has also appeared in the Australian version of
Dragon's Den.
John Lamb, Chairman of Birmingham Press Club, said: "Darryn is
an incredibly successful media personality whose style of
photography has helped change the face of magazines and newspapers
in the UK. And we are delighted that he has chosen Birmingham Press
Club as a platform to speak about his career."
