A leading academic at the University of Derby has joined the
board of enterprise agency Erewash Partnership.
Keith Horton is Dean of the Faculty of Business, Computing and
Law and Professor of information management at the University.
He joined the University last October and is responsible for the
strategic leadership, management and operation of the Faculty and
its three constituent parts: the School of Computing and
Mathematics; Derby Business School; and the School of Law and
Criminology.
Keith is responsible for around 4,500 students, more than 130
staff and an annual revenue of £18m. The Faculty has a strong
presence across the region, and also delivers its courses around
the globe, both physically and online.
Keith has previously undertaken a number of senior management
roles at Edinburgh Napier University and prior to that worked at
Sheffield Hallam University.
His involvement with Erewash Partnership follows on from a
strong tradition within Derby Business School in particular in the
area of enterprise and entrepreneurial management.
The Business School enjoys a wide range of expertise in the area
of Enterprise, and staff in the area have been involved in many
funded projects; overseeing the start-up and incubation of many
hundreds of new businesses across the region.
Keith said: "I am delighted to have this opportunity to join the
board of Erewash Partnership in a non-executive position, given its
outstanding track record of achievement in generating regional
development and supporting businesses.
"Both the University and the Erewash Partnership face
interesting challenges as we both, in connected ways, look to
support and develop people and businesses through these difficult
economic times, and I am sure I can both contribute to, and learn
from, future successes".
Partnership chief executive Ian Viles said: "I am priviledged to
welcome Professor Horton to the board. He will bring a wealth of
experience and knowledge to our deliberations and strengthen our
links with the University."
The Partnership, which recently won a national award for its
networking, has received another boost. Long Eaton firm Steed
Upholstery has become a sponsor.
