A new restaurant, The Blue Piano, is preparing to open its doors
on Harborne Road, Edgbaston on 1st November.
Restaurant owners, Siew Kuan and Peter Hodgson, are offering an
eclectic menu of South East Asian food with a choice of mid priced
options for lunches and dinners from 11am to 11pm, Monday to
Saturday.
The couple already manage a successful restaurant, Blue Ginger,
in Kings Heath and saw an opportunity to open on Calthorpe Estates
and create a wider, authentic menu that includes Singaporean and
Cambodian recipes.
Siew Kuan, who is passionate about food and the original dishes
she knew when growing up says "Our aim is to provide a unique food
experience that will appeal to people wanting something quick and
simple for lunch or an enjoyable evening with family and friends.
At lunch time we will be serving light bites, tapas, soups, salads
and noodles; nothing too heavy. Then our a la carte evening menu
will mix classic South East Asian dishes that have been passed down
through generations with popular street food from where I grew
up."
The Blue Piano is themed in a colonial setting with tropical
plants inside the elegant building at 24-26 Harborne Road. The
restaurant seats 60 and there is a coffee lounge, bar and
garden.
Jayne Herritty, Sales and Marketing Director for Calthorpe
Estates said:
"The Blue Piano concept of traditional French Cambodian fare and
ambiance lends itself perfectly to the style of the period property
they are occupying and is set to be a very popular destination on
the estate. The menu Siew Kuan has prepared is perfect for lunch
breaks when you want more than a sandwich but don't want to
spend hours eating and the evening menu is pitched to reflect a
more leisurely pace. I have no doubt they will be successful
and their opening is eagerly awaited - not least by myself.''
