A local woman is celebrating after winning a coveted national award for her online business, despite only launching just eight weeks ago.

Shrewsbury-based Sharon Lowe of The Pure Emporia was honoured with the title of 'Outstanding Online Shop for 100% Natural Beauty and Skincare' in the 2011 Platinum Awards set up by TV health expert, and regular BBC Radio 2 presenter, Janey Lee Grace.

The awards were launched to showcase the very best products in the natural beauty, health and wellbeing market worldwide, and following rigorous testing by a panel of industry experts and consumers, The Pure Emporia was recognised for its range of completely natural and chemical-free products.

Sharon Lowe, Founder of The Pure Emporia, said: "This is a fantastic achievement, and I am really proud to have been recognised in this way by such an influential industry figurehead, particularly as the business is still so young.

"It all started when a number of close friends and family became ill over a short period of time a few years ago, and I decided to start researching into what they were actually putting on their skin, and was shocked to find that many products on the market contain really damaging ingredients. I became hugely passionate about finding out more, and through hours of research I eventually built up a database of over 4,000 ingredients.

"I took the decision to put my extensive research to good use, and eight weeks ago launched The Pure Emporia, which is dedicated to providing beauty and skincare products that are completely free of 'nasties', with all products that I sell having passed my own personal quality test. Winning this award at such an early stage of the business has been such a confidence boost and has shown my efforts to have been worthwhile. I am now looking forward to seeing the business grow and hopefully winning even more awards! "

Sharon will be showcasing her range of products at a number of events across the county over the next few months, including Shropshire Sparkles at Alan Ward in Shrewsbury on November 3rd in aid of Hope House and Much Wenlock's Christmas Fayre on the 3rd December.
