Barn development opportunity in East Shropshire countryside

An interesting opportunity has arisen in East Shropshire to convert a range of Duke of Sutherland farm buildings into a small residential development surrounded by open countryside.

The traditional buildings at Kingstreet Grange, Sheriffhales near Shifnal are being sold with detailed planning consent for conversion into six dwellings with garaging and gardens. Selling agent Berrys has put a guide price of £600,000 for the whole with additional land available by separate negotiation.

"These barns are in an excellent position just five miles south of Newport, with easy access to Wolverhampton and Birmingham and the motorway network while the rural village of Sheriffhales offers a range of village amenities including a primary school, post office and farm shop," says Chris Jones who is handling the sale for Berrys at Shrewsbury.

"All farming activity has ceased at the site therefore the conversion will create a small residential community of six attractive country houses, located adjacent to the former farmhouse now divided into two dwellings, in a quiet, rural location."

The proposed scheme is for four, four bedroomed homes and two, three bedroomed homes ranging from 1,700 sq ft to 2,646 sq ft.

"Although the residential property market is experiencing some difficulties there still remains a need for quality homes in the countryside and traditional farm buildings like these are being sought by developers to boost the supply of housing in rural areas," he said.

"The planning consent on Kingstreet Grange is for six, good-sized homes. In these changing times, farm building conversions are being used to provide country homes for families," Sarah added.
