A young cerebral palsy sufferer has spent the day at Hilton
Birmingham Metropole to get some firsthand experience of working in
a prestigious kitchen of a four star hotel.
Kieron Hoult, 11, has grown up in Redditch, Birmingham with
aspiration to become the next Jamie Oliver. Kieron's condition
means that he is unable to walk and relies on a wheelchair to get
around his school and home but is a confident and happy.
Kieron's parents, Kirsty and Darren, are currently trying to
raise £14,000 for an Otto Bock Xeno chair, so that Kieron
will be able to stand, unaided and fulfill his dreams of becoming
the first top chef in a wheelchair.
Hilton Birmingham Metropole's charity champion Chrissy Dunkley,
invited Kieron and his family to the hotel, based at the National
Exhibition Centre, and was met by Ernest D'Souza, the Executive
Sous Chef, and spent the morning learning how to cook like a master
chef.
Chrissy commented, "It was impossible to not be inspired by
Kieron and want to help raise awareness for his fundraising. And
with over 60 chefs in our brigade, it seemed a perfect
opportunity."
Kieron's mother, Kirsty added "Kieron has such a good day with
Ernest and was delighted to take home what he had made, along with
his apron, hat and cookery book. It just shows how important it is
for us to raise the money need to buy this wheelchair."
