What barks like a dog, says "fabulous" after a treat and hates
aeroplane noise ?
Introducing Elvis and Cilla - a pair of green-winged Macaws who
are on guard outside a Shropshire security firm.
Named after the King of rock n'roll and his wife, they are the
pet parrots of Trevor and Louise Bate, who run RMP Guarding
security firm at Stafford Park in Telford. The firm also run RMP
Events providing security for large and small scale public events,
along with marquees and entertainment such as bouncy castles,
music, popcorn and candyfloss makers for fun days and birthday
parties.
The feathered twosome, with red fronts and blue wings, are fast
becoming an attraction in their cage to visitors and workers on the
Stafford Park industrial estate.
"We brought them to work with us as it wasn't fair to leave them
at home all day on their own. We spend most of our time at work and
here is where they get lots of attention," said Louise.
"There are more people here and someone is always making a fuss
of them."
Elvis (6) and Cilla (3) hate high pitched noises, squawk loudly
when a plane flies overhead and repeat the word "fabulous" whenever
they are given a treat.
Lousie is hopeful that the birds will breed - despite Elvis's
lack of interest at the moment.
"They usually start breeding aged about four so Cilla has plenty
of time yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed."
