A Derbyshire wedding venue is looking to recruit another wedding
co-ordinator after seeing a 15 per cent increase in bookings this
year.
Shottle Hall, near Belper, took on a third wedding planner in
February and is now looking for another to cope with the record
number of couples hiring the hall.
The family-run venue, which forms part of the Chatsworth Estate,
is also looking for more waiters and bar staff after some younger
members of the team left for university.
The move to recruit another wedding co-ordinator was taken after
venue manager Joanne Nicol, decided she had to give up the role to
concentrate on overseeing the running of the venue, which employs
30 staff on a full-time basis.
Joanne said: "I am genuinely sad to be giving up my role as a
wedding co-ordinator, it's been a pleasure to help make people's
wedding dreams come true.
"However, the number of weddings and functions we stage here is
increasing all the time and so I need to focus more on the running
of the business and making sure that everything is of the highest
standard for our guests.
"We have had a number of applicants for the position already,
but we need someone very special. They will be helping to create
the most romantic and memorable day of two people's lives and we
want someone creative, clear-headed and well-organised - and
prepared to go that extra mile for our couples.
"While numbers are increasing we do not intend to lose sight of
our philosophy that every wedding we host here is special."
Shottle Hall prides itself on being a family-run business.
Joanne's daughter, Sarah Davis is also a wedding coordinator at the
hall and son James Davis is marketing manager.
Set in 14 acres with views across the Ecclesbourne Valley, the
hall has its own luxury marquee, Orangery, bar and eight bedrooms,
each individually designed by internationally acclaimed artist Adam
Walkden.
Couples can either tie the knot inside the hall itself, in the
Coach outdoor ceremony pavilion.
Shottle Hall was built as an estate manager's house by George
Compton Bell in the 1800s, for many years it was the home of
Scottish Laird of Blantyre, the Honourable Walter Stuart, whose
Highland cattle roamed the fields in the 1890s.
It was turned into a hotel and wedding venue following a
multi-million pound refit in 2005.
