People Development Group. The two organisations are working
together to help young unemployed people.
Young unemployed people in inner city areas could take a walk on
the wild side leading to innovative training thanks to a
partnership between local employment experts and a wildlife
conservation charity.
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and Pertemps People Development
Group (PPDG) are jointly exploring opportunities to provide
conservation training to scores of young jobseekers that could help
in their search for employment.
PPDG, with offices in Smithsford Way, Coventry, and throughout
Birmingham and the West Midlands, is a corporate member of the
trust, actively encouraging employees to visit Brandon and other
sites to support its work. The two organisations recently began
negotiations to see how an effective partnership might benefit
young people who are defined as not being in employment, education
or training (NEETs).
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust aims to protect and enhance
wildlife, natural habitats and geology throughout Warwickshire,
Coventry and Solihull and to encourage a greater awareness,
appreciation and participation in all aspects of nature
conservation and the environment.
Yvonne Stevens, corporate manager at the trust, said: "There are
some really exciting opportunities for us to work alongside PPDG by
providing conservation training for young unemployed people. We are
currently investigating the potential to link into two of their
employment projects which provide elements of good citizenship.
It's a wonderful opportunity for us to promote an appreciation of
conservation with the added benefit of utilising it to help people
secure employment."
PPDG trainer Debbie Jones said: "Partnerships in business will
inevitably present opportunities that are mutually beneficial. In
this particular case the Trust can provide real and practical work
experience which can be of definite benefit to our clients seeking
employment opportunities. Such relationships can be invaluable in
reducing levels of unemployment amongst younger job seekers."
PPDG won the five to seven year Work Programme contract as a
prime deliverer in the Birmingham, Solihull & Black Country
region in a national tendering process carried out by the
Government.
PPDG's team of employment experts provides advice on benefits,
confidence building, one-to-one support, CV and interview
preparation as well as finding the right job or training course. In
partnership with DWP, the Ministry of Justice and Jobcentre Plus,
PPDG delivers a diverse range of employment and training
initiatives and many programmes financed by the European Social
Fund. PPDG came fourth in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work
For 2011.
