Staff at engineering consultants Waldeck are celebrating after
being shortlisted for a major national award.
Waldeck is one of five companies to be nominated for the title
of Consulting Engineer of the Year in the Builder & Engineer
Awards 2011. The awards have attracted a great deal of interest
this year with over 30 companies entering the Consulting Engineer
category.
The firm will find out if it has won the award at a ceremony in
Manchester on Wednesday 5thOctober.
The nomination comes after a busy few months for Waldeck, which
now has nine offices across the UK.
The firm provides a range of engineering services, including
structural engineering, civil engineering and sustainable design,
to sectors such as social and private housing, care homes,
education, sport and leisure and retail.
"To be shortlisted for this major award is a real boost for the
company and is great recognition for all the effort and hard work
the whole team has put in over recent years," said Waldeck Business
Development Manager Sue Wright.
"Everyone here is overjoyed about our nomination, which is a
testament to the fact that we have managed to grow throughout the
recession and at the same time maintain the same high level of
quality, commitment and service to our clients."
Now in its eighth year, the Builder & Engineer Awards are
established as a major event in the construction industry calendar
and the ceremony will attract more than 500 key figures in the
industry.
Builder & Engineer is a monthly magazine published for the
construction industry by Excel Publishing.
The 2011 Builder & Engineer Awards judges are Derek Bostock,
Director-General of the Federation of Master Builders; Colette
McKune, Director of Asset Management for City West Housing Trust;
Michael Ankers, Chief Executive of the Construction Products
Association; and Ruth Reed, President of the Royal Institute of
British Architects (RIBA).
Ruth Reed will be the headline speaker at the awards ceremony,
which will take place at The Point, the new conference and events
centre at Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club,
in Manchester on 5th October 2011.
