The University of Northampton has been shortlisted for two
prestigious Times Higher Education Awards in the categories of
Entrepreneurial University of the Year and Most Improved Student
Experience.
Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Petford commented:
"These are two categories that we are proud to have been
nominated for, especially as Most Improved Student Experience has
been voted for by our students. We are working hard to improve our
student experience through investment in our estate and
teaching and learning facilities. We were also proud to receive the
accolade of The Guardian's no.1 university in the UK for 'value
added' in their recent league tables.
"Our nomination for entrepreneurship reflects our work with
local business, but in particular our social enterprise agenda.
"From 2011/12, all students at The University of Northampton
have a unique offer to, as part of their degree course, work in a
social enterprise. This could be in one that we already have set
up, one that we support them set up or one already operating in the
local community. By 2015, we want to be the top university in the
UK for social enterprise and we're already on our way there with
the recent 'Outstanding HEI Supporting Social Entrepreneurship'
award from UnLtd/HEFCE."
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 24 November 2011
at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
