The Transport iNet is reminding companies in Derbyshire that it
is available to provide advice, supply chain opportunities, and
routes to funding through to 2013.
The Transport iNet is continuing to reach out to
Derbyshire-based SMEs and helping them to access all of the
transport sector supply chains - including rail, automotive,
marine, motorsport and aerospace. In addition to the support
provided on a daily basis by the team of innovation advisors, the
Transport iNet is continuing to plan events which will give
companies in Derby the chance to meet suppliers and discover ways
of turning innovation into profitable business ideas.
John Frodsham, Transport iNet Director, said: "The transport
sector in Derby has been in the spotlight recently due to the loss
of the Bombardier contract. Innovation can suffer in tough times
with smaller companies often finding it impossible to develop or
grow. This is where the expertise and contacts of our innovation
advisors really come in to play and with funding until 2013, and we
plan to continue supporting the world-leading expertise found in
Derby."
In July 2011, the Transport iNet reported that it had provided
support to over 500 SMEs since March 2009, sustaining innovation
and growth in the region. The Transport iNet, based at Loughborough
University, is funded by East Midlands Development Agency (emda)
and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The aim of
Transport iNet is to increase the level of innovation in the East
Midlands helping to improve business competitiveness, margins,
sustainability and growth. It allows individual sectors to work
together, share ideas, technologies, intelligence, innovation and
create a link between industry and the academic community.
