Two of the UK's top businessmen will be in Nottingham later this
month for the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) East
Midlands Business Leaders' Dinner.
It will be IoD Director General Miles Templeman's final official
visit to the region before his term of office concludes. Joining
him at the event on Thursday 22 September as a speaker will be
Simon Biltcliffe, the IoD's current national Director of the
Year.
The event, which also sees the launch of the 2012 East Midlands
Director of the Year Awards, will be held in the stunning
glass-domed atrium of the Newton Arkwright Building at Nottingham
Trent University, which is now home to the IoD's regional
office.
Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands Regional Director, commented: "We
have a top line up of inspirational speakers in Miles and Simon-
both very successful in their individual business fields. Miles has
been a great ambassador for the IoD and the East Midlands. Guests
can expect good business advice. It is also a celebration of
regional businesses successes at a challenging economic time."
Miles Templeman has been the IoD's DG since 2004. He started his
career as a marketing specialist, leading such major brands as Daz,
Ribena and Lucozade before moving to general management, becoming
Managing Director of Threshers, the Whitbread Beer Company and
later Chief Executive of Bulmers. Miles has held a series of
national non-executive directorships. He is a board member of
Shepherd Neame, the Kentish family brewer and Melrose plc.
Simon Biltcliffe is CEO of Webmart, a print management company
he started in 1996, which has grown to £30million from just a
£100,000 initial investment. The company has just 30 staff,
generating revenues of £1million each and aims to reach
£100million with 50 staff. He was named IoD Director of the
Year in 2010. Simon has also set up the Webmart Charitable Trust
and a business school in Africa where employees provide mentoring.
Personally he has completed the Polar Circle Marathon for
charity.
The Business Leaders' Dinner is sponsored by Nottingham Trent
University and The Phoenix Partners. Bookings can be made via the
