Teams throw themselves into corporate challenge

Ten teams from local firms put their employees to the test in a corporate battle of the businesses raising funds for St Richard's Hospice.

The teams of four who undertook "The Mission"  at Top Barn Activity Centre in Holt Heath, Worcester were from Postcode Anywhere;  HallmarkHulme Solicitors; BRI Asset Management; Christopher Whitehead Language College; St Richard's Hospice and AKW Medicare.

All the teams took part in activities in which they had to use logic and team tactics to complete the challenge ( on 17th Sept). The winners were one of the Postcode Anywhere teams.

Rachel Jones, St Richard's Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, said: "The day was a great success with teams throwing themselves into what could only be described as Krypton factor crossed with an army assault course. Team members took on mind-boggling team challenges plus archery, rifle shooting and the day culminated with the teams having to make a raft that floated across the lake - a wet finish to an excellent day. "

She added, "The teams went home exhausted after a very challenging day but are all looking forward to what we can conjure up for them next year! Overall a fantastic day full of fun and much laughter and we hope the event will raise in the region of £5,000 for the hospice.  Thanks must also go to The Malvern for kindly sponsoring the event."

William Jones of HallmarkHulme Solicitors said," We all had a fantastic day out at Top Barn completing a range of exciting activities and raising money for a very worthy local cause."

Mark Yeates, a teacher at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester added, "All the staff at Christopher Whitehead were so impressed with the activities at Top Barn. To raise money for St Richard's and have such fun at the same time was superb. Can't wait for the next one..."

St Richard's Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,200 patients and family members in Worcestershire.

Patients are cared for in Day Hospice, the 16-bed In-patient Unit or in their own homes by a specialist professional team as well as many trained volunteers.

In the In-patient Unit specialist staff are on hand 24 hours a day to manage patients' symptoms and where, if they so choose, patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and dignity. St Richard's is grateful for all donations towards the £5.4m they need to raise this year to continue their work.
