If you never got a dose of African sunshine this Summer, no
worries - the sights and sounds of a Moroccan Souk are coming to
the city!
Thirty-eight traders, complete with Berber-style tents, are
preparing to bring an amazing Moroccan Market to St Mark's Square,
Lincoln, and it will be pitching-up from Thursday to Sunday,
October 13 to 16.
Lincoln is one of the shopping hotspots on The Moroccan Market
of Handicraft's tour of 16 UK cities and it promises to be a
cultural experience not to be missed.
Shoppers who are looking to treat themselves, buy an
unusual gift for a friend or something for their home have a good
chance of tracking it down at this authentic event.
The market, staffed by artisans in traditional clothing, will be
bursting with everything from vibrant and colourful rugs to leather
goods, slippers, candles, pottery, ceramics and much much more,
including wonderful food, herbs and spices.
And people will be able to browse at their leisure, as the
listen to the sounds of a traditional Gnawa band.
Organiser Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael
Armstrong said: "The city is becoming an increasingly popular
destination for shoppers who love browsing around and buying from
markets.
"Our choice, throughout the year, includes the well-supported
Farmers' Markets, a Regional Market, PotFest, Continental Market
and Italian Market and we're sure the Moroccan event will be a
great crowdpuller.
"These events bring an extra splash of colour and culture to
Lincoln's wonderful mix of mainstream and niche shopping. We also
make sure we stage our markets in different areas of the city too.
This time, the Moroccan Marketis being hosted by our retailers at
St Mark's."
