A Shropshire mum has been named as one of the finalists in the
prestigious mumandworking 2011 Awards.
The 2011 mumandworking awards are organised by
www.mumandworking.co.uk and reward, recognise and celebrate
the companies and individuals that make flexible working
possible.
The awards will be hosted this year by coach Alexandra Watson as
seen on the X-Factor, across the national press and founder of the
'Happiness System at Work'. There are seven different award
categories which embrace the full spectrum, celebrating working
parents, flexible employers, mumpreneurs/parents in business
alongside two new awards for the best start up of the year and the
best growing business.
Hundreds of nominations were made this year and Rhea Alton, of
Journalism and PR, based on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, is a
finalist in the self-employed category.
Rhea, who is mum to seven-month old George, launched Journalism
and PR in April 2009 and as well as being press officer for the
Cosford Air Show and Shropshire County Show works with numerous
county businesses as a PR consultant.
She said: "It is very exciting to be a finalist in the
mumandworking awards and I am very grateful to the clients who
nominated me. I think it is important to recognise the efforts of
working mums across the country - I fell pregnant unexpectedly
after being told a medical condition would make it extremely
difficult for me to conceive naturally and George arrived when the
business was still very new.
"I knew if I was to keep it going I had to continue working but
I had no idea how hard it would be. I have the greatest respect for
the women out there who have been doing it for years.
On October 10, all finalists are invited to the Thistle Hotelin
Brighton for the awards ceremony which will take place as part of
The Business Mums Summit with keynote speakers Kate Garraway and
Laura Tenison MBE.
The esteemed judging panel, many of whom are award winners
themselves are also all business experts, real achievers in their
field and fully support and examplify the flexible, family-friendly
working model.
The winners will walk away with a selection of indulgent prizes
worth nearly £3,000 in total.
