Hundreds of people are set to head to a Shrewsbury for a bonfire
and firework extravaganza as the West Mid Showground opens its
gates for a fun-filled event this November.
The event will take place at the West Mid Showground, off
Berwick Road in Shrewsbury, on November 6 with gates opening to the
crowds at 3pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm, followed by
the fireworks.
This year Severn Radio's breakfast show presenters Neil and
Carlie will be on site and live music will entertain the crowds
throughout the event.
There will also be a funfair, hot food and drinks, face
painting, a licensed bar and much more.
Mary Hopkins, general manager, said: "The annual bonfire and
firework event has attracted thousands of people in the past and we
are all set for the crowds to return this year.
"We are pleased to offer people of all ages a large venue in
Shrewsbury that they can attend for their November fun and are
opening the gates early so that people of all ages can get involved
and have a great afternoon and evening."
Entry for adults is £5, £2 for children and under
fives are free.
The event will go ahead in all weathers and exits have been
improved for the 2011 event.
"We were so well attended last year it caused some problems at
the end of the event as people headed home. This year the event is
set to be bigger and better than ever before so we have improved
the exits to cater for high numbers," added Mary.
A river taxi will also be on hand to transport people from
Victoria Quay to and from the showground between 5pm and 9pm.
