Girls and QPR Ladies
Commercial vehicle group Sherwood Truck & Van has helped a
girls' football team get off to a flying start by supporting them
with pre-season warm-up matches against QPR and West Ham Ladies
academy teams.
Sherwood sponsored 13-year-old Elizabeth Townley to the tune of
£125 in a fun run which raised money to pay for transport for
Underwood Villa U14 Girls to attend the games.
Elizabeth, who is central defender for the team and who attends
the National School in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, is the daughter
of Greg Townley, facilities manager for Sherwood and parent company
Guest Truck and Van.
Underwood Villa U14 Girls had been asked to play the London
teams after a notching up a superb 2010/2011 season.
They were Nottingham Girls and Ladies division one
champions,League Cup, Nottingham FA Shield winners, and National
Final runners up, being beaten by Blackpool Ladies Academy. In all
the Nottinghamshire competitions the team only conceded ten goals
in total.
They were also the first girls to win League, Cup and Shield in
a season.

play QPR and West Ham Ladies academy teams pre-season," said Greg

play against these well-regarded ladies teams. It was great
experience for the team."
